Raul Villareal, corrupt border patrol agent. |
In the article In Mexico, Corruption Rules, I pointed out that naturalization as US citizens does not seem to cure Hispanics of their penchant for abuse of public office. Rather, Americans of Hispanic descent seem to be just as corrupt as their fellows in the old country. My point has been confirmed by a recent story called “Mexico: Crimes at the Border” on the PBS current events show Frontline. The internet presentation of the story contains a rogue’s gallery of US border officials who collaborated in illegal alien smuggling. A full six of the eight corrupt officials are Hispanic—one is black, and one is white. Collaboration with human smugglers is shockingly common among law enforcement officers on the border: there are no fewer than 200 such cases currently under consideration.
