Introducing Myself (Again)

Ian Jobling, aka “The Realist”

The new year brings many changes to The Inverted World. Among them is that I will no longer write anonymously.

When I started The Inverted World, I chose to remain anonymous out of fear for my career prospects and wrote under the name of “The Realist.” However, now my attitude has changed, and I feel comfortable making my identity known.

My name is Ian Jobling. Up until mid-2006, I worked for American Renaissance, where I ran the website and worked on articles and research reports. People who are familiar with other articles on this site will probably guess that I did not have a good time there. The article Why I Started this Website describes the reasons for my disaffection with American Renaissance. In order to preserve my anonymity, I adopted the persona of an American Renaissance subscriber in that article, rather than revealing that I was a former employee. However, the basic point remains true: most of the people that I met while associated with American Renaissance were intensely anti-Semitic and prone to believe in all sorts of conspiratorial nonsense. Jared Taylor disagrees with me and is inclined to take an indulgent attitude towards his followers. This conflict in vision eventually led to my departure.

Despite that job’s unsuitability for me, there were some things that I accomplished at American Renaissance. I’m responsible for creating the American Renaissance website in its current form. In fact, the site looked a lot better during my time. Taylor seems to have been unable to find a decent webmaster since I left, a fact that does not augur well for the eventual success of his enterprise. I also did the research for the second edition of “The Color of Crime” and “Hispanics: A Statistical Portrait.” All the statistics in the reports are my work.

After I left American Renaissance, I was unemployed for a certain period. Then in December 2006, right about the time that I started The Inverted World, I got hired as a technical writer in the Washington, DC area, where I live. The first nine months of 2007, when I was writing for The Inverted World while spending 55 hours a week commuting and working at my job, were the most exhausting of my life.

Fortunately, I came into a large chunk of money from my family this last summer, and I’ll be getting more over the next two years. Consequently, I quit my job at the beginning of October, just as I had speculated I might in an article I wrote in August. I’m currently doing part-time work from home.

Now that I have more time on my hands, my ambitions for The Inverted World have expanded considerably. For more about that, see the previous blog entry.

Well, hello again Mr. Jobling,

It is great to know that you have had a good turn of fortune and can pursue your much needed work, with a greater focus for our people in 2008. I don’t think any reader or poster (in particular the posters) can take umbrage with you, for taking a nom de plume when you first started this website. Since most of us do the same and for largely the same reasons, I think the majority will empathize; if not, they should, or they simply wallow in hypocrisy!

Again, all the best and much success,

John PM!

Mr. Jobling,

Taking a nom de plume?

Ian, I really respect you for no longer writing anonymously. But in general this is an issue that I wish could be discussed. The questions that I wish to ask are:

“A technical writer in Washington.” What is your opinion of speaking your mind at work? Can an employee fire you for political activity accomplished after work? Are there any legal recourse to this?

This may be too early to ask, but what has been the response from associates, etc.?

“However, now my attitude has changed, and I feel comfortable making my identity known.” Could you expand on this? Was there more to it than becoming finanicially independent?

Everywhere Whites are tired of keeping quiet. Out of fear of their careers and the unknown we curtail our freedom of speech. We have to listen to the most unbelievable rubbish day in and out. You have said, No longer. Any words of encouragement/advice to those of us still in the shadows?

Great questions, Henry. I will blog about this soon.

Mr. Jobling,

Congratulations on your good fortune; may it to continue always. I’m quite confident, over time, the Inverted World will become the “gold standard” amongst pro-white-preservationist web-sites.

Are you know independently wealthy, i.e., never have to work again and also be able to have a middle class lifestyle? One of the best thinks you can do for the White race realist movement is to get married and have at least two children. All of this is for nothing if we have no descendents.

Economist,

Wow! Get married, have kids … What a brilliant scheme! And to think I’d never thought of that myself! Thanks for your invaluable advice!

Seriously though, I seem to have stirred up some class conflict by mentioning that I had come into some money. A couple David Duke fans have written in taunting me for being one of the idle rich. My income is actually quite modest, just enough to get by. And before you call me Little Lord Fauntleroy, remember I’m still working part time.
